Why do I need a licence?
Although the accident rate is far lower than
in some other sports it has to be said that Judo
is a tough combat sport. It is therefore wise to
have a licence, which gives insurance cover.
Gradings and competitions take place all over the
country and throughout the year and anyone taking
part in these events must have a valid licence.
At Wivenhoe Judo Club we will insist that you
join the British Judo Association and obtain a
licence after you have been coming for about 6
weeks. The cost for a junior licence is approx.
£15 and senior £24.
